rustingwillpowr: (x-files - scully - bbq)
I have now made it to Season Four of The X-Files (although I skipped Season One).

Today I watched the Chupacabra episode, which I never really liked. When it first aired, I thought it was boring and gross. Oh, what a difference a few years makes. I laughed mi trasero off.

Ever since I watched "Syzyrgy", I've been paying more attention to when Scully drives. It's actually a lot.

But today's question of the day is "How many times do people try to eat Scully?"

Because Tooms tried to eat her liver...and those crazy Chaco Chicken people tried to kill her and, I assume, eat her...and there was that guy that who stalked women via personal ads and then ate the fat out of them (and that whole episode made no sense to me because that guy was not even the least bit attractive and creepy as hell)...and I haven't gotten to it yet, but doesn't Leonard Betts try to eat Scully, too?

So, yeah, how many times do people try to eat Scully?

I did find this nifty X-Files statistics site, but it doesn't exactly answer my question.

Meanwhile, I started following Amber Benson, Julie Benz and Elisabeth Rohm on Twitter. So far, they are funny enough to stay on my list.

And Annabeth Gish tweeted today, so I'm happy.

Last weekend's Netflix dvd was The Celestine Prophecy, based on the novel by James Redfield, which I have not read.

It received generally poor reviews, and I can understand why, but overall I liked it. It has the look and feel of a tv movie, but there's some pretty scenery. The special fx are nothing special, but I liked the music. I thought the acting was good.

To people already familiar with new age spirituality concepts, the story might be dull. I myself was not familiar with the concepts. (I've tried to listen to Deepak Chopra, but I can't get past the accent. And I've tried listening to meditation cds, but they just sound so cheesy. My friend gave me some mp3 lectures from "A Course in Miracles", but I just don't do so well with abstract concepts.)

So for me, seeing them acted out onscreen gave me a better understanding. I've been thinking about how to actually apply it to my life or whatever, but I don't think I can put it into words at the present.

This is what I was greeted with when I went outside sometime around 11pm.

Someone put toads in the back of my mom's truck.

Last night's XF fanfic was about demonic possession. Or, at least, I think it was about demonic possession. Judging from the things Scully, Doggett and Reyes did to each other, they must have been possessed. :S

I went to bed fairly early---10:30---since I had to be at work at six this morning. I still had to take a nap after I got home and ate lunch.

The boss locked us in this morning and left. There were only about five people there besides me. My machine is closest to the door.

A few hours in, I heard banging on the door. I got up to see who it was. My first thought was, seriously, "ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE", but it turned out to just be one of the guys who cleans the offices.

I think I'm addicted to making screencap comics.

Today, I finished watching "Dod Kalm". It took me three days to watch the whole thing, being as how I was otherwise occupied.

I remember watching it when it first ran. "You know...the episode where they're trapped on that ship and they get old."

The thing that struck me today is the scene where Scully mixes up that "fountain of youth" cocktail of sardine juice, lemon juice and the water from a snow globe. Or whatever was in it.

Then she and Mulder argued over who should drink it, each insisting that the other deserved it more. *sigh* Soooo romantic.

So, I decided to finish the first crack!fic I started for the challenge.

This does not fit into canon. At all. Also, I don’t know when to make paragraphs and stuff. It’s been fifteen years since I took English. It could use some editing, but...tired now.

I make no promises on entertainment value.

God, this is embarrassing. )

I tried to think of a [community profile] philedom challenge I could redo today, but I just couldn't come up with anything.

And I was going to make a banner for a fanfiction, but I couldn't find one I liked enough. (In the above picture, I was going for Reyes, post IWTB. Lots of Photoshop filters and smudging.)

19. What are you most interested in reading?

Mostly, I read mystery/crime books like Patricia Cornwell. It usually takes me a couple of months to finish a book.

I bought a few Stephen King books and some others at the annual library book sale last weekend. Other than garage sales, this is where most of my books come from. I never actually check out books from the library because I read so slow.

I also like biographies and how-to books.

20. Are you involved in any fandoms? If so, what are they?

I'm not really involved in any fandoms. I think I know Buffy about as well as anything, which isn't saying much. I've been rewatching Season 2 of The X-Files. I'm over halfway through, and I haven't remembered hardly any of the episodes so far. I think it's been several years since I watched them. They are much richer than I remembered, too.

I have to work half a day Saturday, which means I probably won't have time to make a fanmix for the [community profile] philedom Olympics, but I'll keep working on it and post it sometime in the future.

18. What don't you talk about here, either because it's too personal or because you don't have the energy?

Um, pretty much everything?

I feel awful today. It's hot and muggy. Yahoo! says the high was 92.

I only got about 5 hours of sleep last night. I didn't go to bed until after 11, and a little after midnight, I heard my mom banging around in the bathroom, so I got up to see what was wrong.

There was a fly in the bathroom, and she was trying to kill it. It landed up above the bathroom mirror underneath the fluorescent light. She swatted and hit the light, which flickered and went out.

So at 12:30 I was climbing onto the bathroom counter to change the bulb. It was one of those big long fluorescent rods. I didn't think to check and see if she just knocked it loose from the connectors. But anyway, it's fixed.

I had to drag my box fan out of the corner, and it was still too hot to sleep comfortably. I don't know what I'll do this summer.

Also, I think I'm going to have to buy a new chill mat for my laptop on payday since I can't find the usb cable for the old one. I don't even know if it still works. I haven't used it since I didn't have a laptop for over a year.

15. What 5 things are you obsessed with currently? )

Is it only Day 9?!

9. Tell me about your default icon.

I made it from a screencap stolen from http://www.chrisnu.com from the Season 9 episode "Daemonicus".

Normally, I would take my own screencap, but I was lazy that day.

8. What is your philosophy on journal layouts?

Keep it simple. I don't like a lot of "clutter". I get distracted too easily. I prefer dark text on a white or light-colored background. White text on black is too hard to read. Yellow text burns my retinas. If it's something I really want to read, I will copy/paste it into Wordpad so that I can see it.

I don't like the background to be a picture unless it is really faint. I can't read text floating on a regular picture no matter how neon fluorescent the text is. And, anyway, I hate neon.

And I like a large sans-serif text. (But I usually zoom in my browser to make it bigger.)

I bought a seed account...which means I probably won't be eating for a couple of weeks.

I'm pretty sure I won't be deleting my account now.

However, if my internet speed doesn't improve, I won't be able to use it.

Upload speed: 8 bytes. Bytes?? Seriously???

Uhhh...so where was I?

Friday night, I got some things together to take to the annual eWaste Disposal thingy. I got rid of 3 old laptops and a cell phone. We also got rid of an old tv, a boombox and a computer monitor that belonged to someone else. I was going to get rid of my stereo since the only thing that works on it is the aux in and speakers, but I didn't. My allergies flared up from all the cleaning, so I went to bed early.

Saturday, we made tacos for lunch. Then, I cleaned my room for a while. I didn't make much progress other than finding my Wacom tablet and installing it. Later, we had another tornado warning, so my mom, Wishy and I hung out in the hall for an hour or so. I didn't feel like turning the computer back on, so I went to bed after that.

Sunday, I slept most of the day. It looks like most of the storms are going to go around us tonight, but we may get some rain later.
